“In my master’s thesis I investigated the mechanical influence on epithelial model tissues. Therefore I used a cell stretching device, that allowed to mechanically induce forces on the MDCK II tissue. Beside cell-culture and microscopy the project also included the analysis of the aquired images with sophisticated image analysis tools. This allows us to better understand and characterize the elastic behaviour of adult tissues upon stress” (Simone Gehrer, PULS Group, Prof. Dr. Ana-Sunčana Smith).
